Matilda Feaster-Jarrett “Doll”

Matilda Jarrett-Feaster passed away peacefully at Akron City Hospital January 21, 2012.

She was born February 6, 1923 in Coventry, Ga. to the late John and Maggie McGinnis. Matilda was a life-long resident of Akron, Ohio. She graduated from high school and went to Business College. She spent most of her career as a waitress and homemaker along with raising her children. Matilda loved spending time at church worshipping the Lord with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by parents, John and Maggie McGinnis; husband, Samuel Feaster, Sr.; sisters, Mary McGinnis, Grace McGinnis, Cheron Wilson, and Odessa McGinnis; best friend, Ruby Wilson. She is survived by children, Maryann Brooks, Samuel (Joan), Ronnell (Maxine), Rosemarie Barrett-Vernon; sister, Lucille McGinnis. She was a mother to many others. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins; special friends, Zell, Dee, and Pearl “Ms. Pearl”.

Service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 12 Noon at Akron Missionary Baptist Church, 17 W. Cuyahoga Falls Ave., Akron, OH 44310, Pastor J. Michael Martin, Sr. officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Friday, January 27, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 11:30 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form at 78 Cuyahoga St., Akron, OH 44304 and condolences may be sent to 594 Sunset View Dr., Akron, OH 44320.
